Last Man Standing Match:
Carson Pain vs. Gravedigger
The night's next match is the culmination of a long grudge between two of Raw's most well-known stars. Carson Pain, one of the most charismatic and popular superstars, won the WWE Title at last year's WrestleMania from DMK and continued to feud with him over the next few months. But a surprising return from Gravedigger at the end of the Extreme Rules PPV added a new element to the feud, and eventually turned DMK back to a babyface. 'Digger continued to pursue the WWE Title but couldn't get close due to his rivalry with DMK, and David Degenerate's return alongside Mr. McMahon complicated things even more. At Summerslam, David captured the WWE Title in controversial fashion and "The Original" went on a months-long crusade to win it back but failed. In December, the "Graveyard Monster" returned from an absence and targeted Carson, assigning blame to him for his own shortcomings. This led to a First Blood match at the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV that Gravedigger won soundly. The injuries Carson suffered kept him out of action for weeks as 'Digger turned his attention towards winning the Royal Rumble. Leading up to the PPV, the "Monster" would hold 4-man battle royal challenges against any who dared to attempt and for several weeks he was impressively successful. But on the final Raw before Royal Rumble, Carson returned and was a mystery opponent in Gravedigger's final battle royal challenge... and beat the "Monster" to ruin his streak! This added some tension to the 30-man Rumble match, and Carson was one of two men that eliminated Gravedigger! "The Original" ended up as the runner-up in the match to DMK, but Mr. McMahon announced that he would force the "King" to defend his Rumble victory in the Elimination Chamber. Gravedigger and Carson were two of the chosen, and their personal feud continued. In the Chamber match, Gravedigger finished runner-up to DMK and again felt frustration due to his inability to earn a WWE Title match. With WrestleMania looming and a countout win over David Degenerate under his belt, Gravedigger felt the need to destroy Carson once and for all. He attacked "The Original" multiple times in backstage areas, leaving his rival beaten and often needing medical attention. They finally agreed to settle their differences in a Last Man Standing match on the grandest stage, but Mr. McMahon's interest in their rivalry added some rewards for the winner. If Carson is able to defeat 'Digger, then "The Original" can fulfill his desire to be in DMK's corner for tonight's WWE Title main event. If Gravedigger can keep Carson down for a 10-count, then he earns his first 1-on-1 WWE Title shot next month at the Backlash PPV. Fans have been clamoring to see if Gravedigger's brutal attacks are a precursor of tonight's carnage... or can Carson outlast the "Monster" and give DMK an assist later against the corporate duo?
Carson's music hits first and the Glendale crowd welcomes him with plenty of cheers as the charismatic superstar heads down and performs his signature slide into the ring. He seems ready for tonight's battle and needs a big showing to take down the furious "Monster". Next, a lightning bolt hits the stage to signal the entrance of Gravedigger, who stalks to the ring expressionless despite the deafening boos raining down on him. 'Digger steps over the top rope and into the ring, adjusting his gloves with a fierce glare for anyone who dares to make eye contact. The two rivals stare at each other intensely as they await the bell, but another person makes their presence felt... Mr. McMahon! The camera pans over and spots the interested WWE Chairman watching the match from a front-row seat! Vince put a lot on the line for this grudge match, so I'm sure he's out here to see if Carson will be around later tonight... or if Gravedigger will be the next #1 contender. The referee is ready and calls for the bell as this hard-hitting match begins! Carson briskly walks over in a fighting stance and delivers a few stiff punches to 'Digger's face, but the masked "Monster" barely reacts. He then grabs "The Original" and locks him in a chicken wing, rocking him back and forth to increase the pressure. When Carson jumps back to hit feet, Gravedigger clotheslines him... but then keeps a hold of his wrist to deliver a 2nd clothesline right away! It's a good start for the "Monster" but Carson is not going to play around tonight. He's got payback to give, and he starts right away. He responds with a running clothesline and follows up with the crowd-pleasing Original Twist. Then, remembering the stipulations of the match, Carson exits the ring... and retrieves a sledgehammer from under the ring! The crowd reacts as "The Original" inspects the dangerous weapon and prepares to make use of it! He re-enters the ring and immediately slams the hammer into 'Digger's gut! You can hear the breath burst out of his foe's lungs, but Carson doesn't pause before delivering another shot with it right to the skull! Gravedigger flops to the mat, where Carson takes the handle of the object... and forcefully chokes his rival! 'Digger's legs flail as he struggles to breathe. After releasing the hold, Carson raises the hammer up and drives another shot with it into his foe's gut while on the mat, surprising everyone with his violent behavior! But 'Digger bounces back quickly, catching Carson with a running knee smash... before using the sledgehammer against him! Vicious shots damage Carson as the "Monster" takes delight in each impact. Needing to recover, Carson slides out of the ring and grabs his chest in pain. Gravedigger exits nearby but is greeted with several punches, as Carson knows that showing weakness will only give the advantage to his bigger opponent. Frustrated, 'Digger decides to take his anger out on someone else. After slamming Carson down, the referee ventures too close for his liking... and 'Digger whips the official hard into the steel steps! The crowd is shocked at the assault and ferociously jeers the "Monster", who only stares at his evildoing without emotion. But a moment later, Carson's back... and tosses Gravedigger into the barricade, right in front of Mr. McMahon! The WWE Chairman is stunned by Carson's aggressiveness, and "The Original" takes a moment to talk trash right to Vince's face! Mr. McMahon gulps in fear, preferring to stay away from him. The trash talk turns out to be a detriment for Carson though, as 'Digger responds with a massive big boot and follows up with a painful chop to the head. "The Original" fights back, delivering a special punch combo to fire up the crowd. Nearby, the steel steps lay dislodged from the ring post. Carson eyes them... and lifts the bulky metal up! 'Digger staggers back into range, and Carson smashes the metal right into him! Having a few sinister thoughts roam through his head, Carson decides to toss the steel steps into the ring for possible later use! Carson races over to deliver a running strike, but 'Digger counters with a huge back body drop! Carson's back bounces off the unforgiving floor, and they start to just brawl with each other. Wild punches are traded back and forth, including a flurry of punches from Carson while 'Digger is pressed up against the barricade. The brawl extends to the ramp, where they use the environment to deliver even more damage. It's obvious they are going to truly destroy each other to settle this once and for all! The action transitions back to the ring and Carson eyes the steel steps again. With them positioned near the corner, he tries to move 'Digger into the corner. But the "Graveyard Monster" reverses and lifts Carson up... to smash him onto the steel steps with a spinebuster! "The Original" groans loudly in pain from the impact and the crowd gasps at the sight of the move. 'Digger can be seen smirking through the mask and he attempts to follow up with more. But instead, Carson again rallies back and somehow gets 'Digger leaning against the ropes on the apron. Carson, positioned perfectly with the steel steps behind him, lifts Gravedigger up from the apron... and suplexes the "Monster" onto the bulky metal! This time it's 'Digger who's moaning, and the crowd loves seeing Carson take control again. Noting that he's gonna need to do more to keep his opponent down, Carson exits the ring... and snags a steel chair from under the ring! He brings the new weapon into the ring... and proceeds to smash it repeatedly into Gravedigger's face and torso! The fans flinch with each damaging shot, but it seems to keep 'Digger down and fire Carson up. He tangles the chair around Gravedigger's head and attempts to stomp on it, but 'Digger escapes it just in time. But the chair shots have done their work as 'Digger's weak attempt to rally back ends with a reverse DDT from a motivated Carson! While the "Monster" slowly staggers to his feet, Carson drops to the mat... and pounds his fists to signal for one of this signature moves! Carson moves like a snake as he stalks his prey, and when 'Digger turns towards him... "The Original" strikes with his Fresh Cut signature! Then, to quickly follow up, he lifts his bigger foe up... and plants him with his Original Sin finisher! The referee begins to count as the crowd whoops it up, as 'Digger seems to be knocked out. Carson takes the few seconds to breathe, and nods with each number the official shouts out. But, just as the referee counts to 8... Carson reaches out and stops him! What is "The Original" doing? He could win the match right here, and he's stopping the ref at 8?! A smirk appears on Carson's face and the crowd suddenly realizes... he's not done! Carson is determined to truly put away his foe for good, and heads out of the ring... for another steel chair! He returns and places one chair under 'Digger's face as he lays prone on the mat. Then Carson retrieves the other weapon and stands menacingly over his opponent. A moment later, the chair is up... and is slammed down onto Gravedigger's head with a conchairto maneuver! The "Monster" grips his face in pain and writhes on the mat, eventually ending up flat on his back as the referee begins another count. Carson waits patiently as the referee counts, but... 'Digger rises up to his feet just past the 6-count! "The Original" is stunned! How was that not enough to knock the "Monster" out? Carson sprints across the ring to deliver a running strike... but the resilient 'Digger counters with a massive DDT right onto a steel chair! Carson's head bounces off the metal and now he's on the mat with Gravedigger waiting for the ref's count! The impact hurt, but Carson is able to climb back to his feet after a count of 5. 'Digger goes on a desperate rampage, trying to get a little revenge for Carson's attacks so far. But again, "The Original" proves to have more in the tank and finds a way to rally back. After countering a few moves, Carson is able to whip 'Digger into the corner. Then, noticing one of the steel chairs laying nearby, Carson lifts his foe onto the top turnbuckle. Then he climbs himself, gets a hold of his opponent... and slams him onto the chair with a back superplex! The impact seems to knock Gravedigger out again, and Carson decides to make sure that he stays down for good. "The Original" snags any item he can find - chairs, the steel steps, etc. - and begins to pile them right on top of his rival! A moment later, 'Digger is buried under a pile of metal and the referee is counting! The fans chant the count along with him, and Carson stands close by and breathes hesitantly. The anticipation rises as the count reaches 8, but no movement yet. A count of 9 sends the crowd into a frenzy... and they erupt when he shouts "TEN!" and calls for the bell! Carson exhales a sigh of relief and celebrates the win, drawing an angry look from Mr. McMahon. "The Original" can officially join DMK at ringside for the main event tonight, giving the "King" a show of support he may need against David Degenerate and the WWE Chairman. Carson steps onto the rope and raises a fist high to show his appreciation to the cheering fans! WINNER: Carson Pain |
Post-Match Segment
The scene still seems to be positive right after the match ends, and Carson rolls out of the ring still pleased with his victory. There has been no movement from his rival under the messy pile Carson created, so the coast seems to be clear.
But a moment later... 'Digger bursts out of the pile! Carson doesn't see it yet but the crowd's sudden silence causes concern. But before he can react... Gravedigger smashes a chair right into his back! Carson flops to the floor and the "Monster" follows up with furious shots over and over again. The crowd is stunned at how quickly 'Digger is able to bounce back, but the fury he is showing now is nearly impossible to overcome. With the chair bented and busted and now unusable, 'Digger grabs another weapon... the timekeeper's bell! Carson staggers to his feet, barely able to stand... and receives a mouthful of clanging bell! A few more follow-up shots bruise him deeply and the stunned crowd comes back to life with a resounding chorus of boos. But 'Digger doesn't pay any attention to the response and just continues to wail on his rival, using the environment as a weapon too. Eventually, Gravedigger drags Carson's limp body around the ring and up the ramp, continually keeping him semi-conscious with a stiff punch or a nasty toss into the barricade. On the ramp, Gravedigger continues the vicious assault and it now starts to resemble the ending of their First Blood match from a few months ago! There, 'Digger won by punching the blood right out of Carson's face on the ramp... and here he is again, punching his rival's lights out on the ramp! Apparently blood is what he desired, because after one final blow to the forehead, Carson crumbles to the ramp and we can see the red ooze trickle down his face. Satisfied with his actions, 'Digger stands over his beaten foe. Sensing a chance to interject, a frantic medical crew sprints out from backstage and begins to check on the injured Carson. The "Graveyard Monster" takes one last glance at his handiwork and decides to exit with the boos following him. 'Digger disappears backstage and the cameras focus in on the ramp. A barely-conscious Carson is being monitored closely, and eventually they assist him to the back. "The Original" is supposed to be in DMK's corner later tonight, but did Gravedigger's attacks again prevent him from fulfilling that duty? How is Carson going to be in the proper shape to give DMK an assist? His arms are draped over two medical professionals and he can't even walk under his own power! The fans watch this scene unfold with stunned silence and ponder the ramifications this will have on tonight's main event! |

Women's Championship Unification Tournament - Bracket:
Women's Championship Unification Tournament Final:
Brittany Black {Divas Champion} vs.
Audrey Vega {Women's Champion}
Last month, Mr. McMahon hinted to Divas champ Brittany Black that he was developing an exciting idea for the women's division, sparking a wide range of rumors that passed through the females. Curious of the WWE Chairman's intentions, Brittany and the Raw-brand ladies confronted him and demanded more information to which he responded with a date for an announcement - the Raw after Elimination Chamber! Vince kept good on his promise, announcing a tournament that would unify the Divas and Women's Titles! The winners (and subsequent champions) of the Raw and Smackdown regions would then face off at WrestleMania... and walk out with both titles in hand! On the Raw side, Brittany kept her title through to the Raw final, including a victory over Sunny Silva in her hometown of Mobile, Alabama. Her opponent was Maryse, who had been a loyal ally for months. But Brittany's demanding behavior caused a rift between herself and the French-Canadian beauty, and in a chaotic semifinal match against Nikki Bella, Maryse and Brittany attacked each other to officially end their partnership. Maryse won the match, setting up a title bout just days before WrestleMania. Despite a great fight from her former friend, the "Evil Diva" prevailed to earn her first WrestleMania match. The blue brand also saw some interesting developments, and it came as the result of a shocking upset that left not a dry eye in the house! In her semifinal match against rival (and then-champ) Eve Torres, Audrey scored the victory to win her first Women's Title and received a great response from fans and other roster members. Then, she took the new title and defended it against Natalya in the Smackdown final, winning the match to setup a monumental unification match between two of WWE's young up-and-coming female stars. Although they haven't really interacted yet as members of opposite brands, you have to think that both will be very motivated to score the win... and literally be the top female in the entire WWE!
Brittany enters first as the Raw representative and reigning Divas champ, and the crowd gives the "Evil Diva" a vicious round of boos. Brittany's run through the Raw region of the tournament has kept her title reign alive for just past 150 days and she looks confident that she can beat her opponent tonight. Next, the crowd gives a warm welcome for the Women's Champion and she can't hold back her smile as she heads to ringside! Audrey's title win in the tournament semifinals was one of the best moments of the new year so far and the "American Woman" strolls to the ring proudly. Both ladies give their titles to the referee and he holds them both up to indicate that only one of them will leave with both belts. The bell rings and two of WWE's young female stars begin the tournament championship! Brittany starts off with several forearm strikes, but Audrey quickly counters with a discus clothesline. With Brittany on the mat, Audrey delivers an elbow drop. The "Evil Diva" knocks her foe into the ropes and performs a move that pulls Audrey's neck down onto the top rope. The action spills outside, where Brittany delivers a foot DDT and slams Audrey's head off the ringpost! Back in the ring, the two champions trade big moves as they try to gain control. Brittany plants Audrey with an arm drag and follows up with a nasty kick to the back. Audrey counters with a running DDT and then a running cross body. Brittany hits a hurricanrana but Audrey responds with a standing split leg drop. The "Evil Diva" fights back by locking in her Abyss submission hold and then a dragon sleeper hold... but Audrey knees Brittany in the face to break it up! The fans are getting excited as they enjoy the back-and-forth action between the hard-fighting women. Brittany tosses her opponent into the corner, and delivers an athletic roundhouse kick followed by a dirty kick to the ribs. Brittany lifts Audrey up, but the "American Woman" rallies back with a well-timed elbow to the face and multiple kicks to the sides of Brittany's legs. Angry, Brittany responds with a hip toss and stiff stomps to the face. The "Evil Diva" is trying to pull out all the heelish tactics to win, but Audrey is proving to be a much tougher opponent than expected! Audrey proves her worth, countering Brittany's run with a great hurricanrana. When Brittany staggers to her feet, Audrey punches her repeatedly... and sends the "Evil Diva" tumbling out of the ring! With Brittany dazed on the outside, Audrey taunts and gets the crowd to issue a big cheer for her. The Divas champ notices the crowd's reaction and glances up, noticing her foe disrespecting her and garnering lots of crowd support! Angry, Brittany races back into the ring and plants Audrey with a running bulldog and a spinning heel kick! But again Audrey rallies back, countering the next running move with a DDT and locking Brittany in a sleeper hold. Still furious, Brittany clotheslines Audrey out of the ring and follows her outside. There, she delivers two painful kicks to the ribs and then lifts Audrey up... to drop her facefirst onto the barricade! The action returns to the ring, but Audrey has enough left in the tank to knock Brittany down and land a cartwheel moonsault. But the "American Woman" is exhausted and can barely manage to stay focused. Sure enough, her fatigue turns out to be the difference. She whips Brittany into the ropes but the "Evil Diva" is able to lock in her Abyss submission hold again. The move tires Audrey out more, and a rejuvenated Brittany wastes no time in putting the match away. The "Evil Diva" grabs Audrey by the wrists, twists her around... and plants her with her signature Paralyzer Drop! The reigning Divas champ senses the moment, waits for Audrey to rise off the mat... and then nearly kicks her head off with the Migrainer! She goes for the cover and the referee counts 1... 2... 3!!! The crowd is stunned at the result as Brittany keeps her title, collects the Women's Title and ends Audrey's title reign after only a few weeks! The "Evil Diva" is now the top female in all of the WWE! She holds BOTH of the women's championships and stands alone as the best of the best! She entered the tournament as the champion and leaves as a double champion! Brittany celebrates proudly, accepting both titles happily, while Audrey sulks sadly as she recovers from her pain. Brittany Black is still Divas Champion and is now the NEW Women's Champion! WINNER (still Divas Champion and NEW Women's Champion): Brittany Black |
Backstage Interview
Just before the show's main events begin, we venture backstage for a short interview segment. There, Justin Roberts is waiting to have a chat with... Thunder! The newest rookie on Raw has already made an impressive impact, most recently seen slamming Travis Roarke through a table in a victory on Superstars. The "Strongest Stud" made his debut at the Royal Rumble, finishing as second runner-up in the 30-man Rumble match, and has looked impressive in the ring. Although, despite a debut that made him seem like a potential fan favorite, his recent feud with the "Assassin" revealed that he has some selfish, narcissistic tendencies that rubbed fans the wrong way. Justin receives his cue and begins the interview.
Justin: "Hello everyone! Thank you for joining us tonight for our incredible WrestleMania show. I'm pleased to have Thunder with me this evening. Thunder... you have made quite an impression in your limited time on the roster so far. What's next for you?"
Thunder: "Well Justin... first of all, this must be an absolute treat for you. Getting to interview Thunder on the Show of Shows? I mean... this must check an item off your bucket list. You can't have a WrestleMania moment without Thunder!"
Justin: "I... uh... suppose that's true? Well anyway, you've been a person to watch lately on the Raw brand although you have preferred to wrestle your matches on Superstars. Are you planning a big return to Monday Night Raw action?"
Thunder: "Listen here, Justin... Monday Night Raw cannot truly handle a personality like me. I'm too beautiful for the cameras, so they will probably break. I'm too muscular for the ladies to stop themselves. I'm too strong for the other uglies to defeat. I will return to Raw... when they DESERVE to view a specimen like Thunder! And when I do... oh, believe me... everyone on Raw will FEEL... THE... THUNDER! Slamming that ugly Travis through a table was only the first step. I'm going to be the most astonishing WWE Champion in the company's history. They will place my face everywhere! On posters, on programs, on collector's cups, on ladies' magazines... everywhere! You can't put a price on this gorgeous body! This is what I mean when they SEE THE LIGHTNING! Damn... look at you, Justin! Even you can't contain yourself!"
Justin: "Uh... no, I'm fine."
Thunder: "Oh you're just being modest. It's okay! It's natural to feel that way when you are around someone like me! But don't worry... you just get to SEE THE LIGHTNING... everybody else on Raw will soon FEEL THE THUNDER!"
Thunder performs a series of muscle flexes in front of a confused and flabbergasted Justin. The "Strongest Stud" then gives a model pose for the camera before exiting. Justin gazes at him as he leaves and then shakes his head in disgust as the camera fades out.
