Roarke loved learning and excelling in different types of fighting sports, including boxing, MMA, tae kwon do and multiple other fighting styles and he brought all his skills to the WWE. As a young tough athlete in California, Roarke rose up the MMA and boxing ranks quickly and at one point held a 25-match winning streak that included 19 KO's. At the age of 26, Roarke battled an opponent to a 15-round draw in a championship boxing match. The match left Roarke with a severe concussion, short-term memory loss and several deep cuts and bruises. The match may have been a classic, but the physical toll was too much for him to handle and he retired from the sport. With a competitive drive still fueling him but his body in need of a safer sport, Roarke discovered pro wrestling and decided to try it out. As it turned out, his fighting skills blended perfectly with the intricate moveset of the squared circle and Roarke became a near-instant star. After beating down opponents throughout the western U.S. independent circuit, the WWE gave Roarke a tryout and then a contract after he impressed. His former-boxer-turned-wrestler mantra was entertaining to the fans, and he soon found himself getting a call up from the developmental ranks. Since then, Roarke has KO'd several people in his quest for WWE gold. Career Overview Year 1: Began the year as a member of the Smackdown brand... He quickly rose up the ranks with his fighting and brawling style and became the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Title in May... He faced champ Krizz Torture at the Extreme Rules PPV and won the title... In June, a new challenger emerged (Carson Pain) and Travis defended the Intercontinental Title against him at The Bash PPV, but Carson won the belt... His focus then shifted to the recently-reinstated ECW Title and he earned a spot in a Triple Threat title match at the Summerslam PPV against champ Mack Wheeler and Gravedigger, but 'Digger won the match and the title... In September, he got to face Gravedigger one-on-one for the ECW Title at the Hell in a Cell PPV and won to capture the belt... He then defended the title in October at the Bragging Rights PPV against Mack Wheeler and the recently-debuted Joseph T. Lutte, but the rookie Frenchman won the belt in his first title match... In November he participated in the 20-man battle royal at the Survivor Series PPV with a chance for a title match of the winner's choosing, but he failed to win despite finishing within the final 4 men remaining... In December, he began a feud with Ace, and their rivalry mixed with the issues between Intercontinental champ Gravedigger and Zach Wesley... This led to a 4-way elimination-style match for the Intercontinental Title at the TLC PPV, but Zach outlasted all to win the title... In January, he had a decent showing in the 30-man Royal Rumble match... In February, he earned his first shot at the World Heavyweight Title by winning a qualifying battle royal for a spot in the Elimination Chamber match, but failed to win the belt at the namesake PPV Year 2: Was drafted to the Raw brand to begin the year... His first feud on Raw was focused around the U.S. Title, and he challenged champ Rebel Ford... He won the title at the Extreme Rules PPV... Rebel challenged him to a rematch at The Bash PPV and reclaimed the title with a narrow victory... In July, Travis formed a new team with Dylan Dynamite and challenged Rebel to a rematch for the U.S. Title, but Rebel was able to retain the title at the Night of Champions PPV... In August, Travis eyed the Hardcore Title and earned a title match against Big Mutha Trucker, which he won on an episode of Superstars to earn his 1st Hardcore Title reign... This sparked a brutal feud between the two, and they met for a rematch at the Hell in a Cell PPV, which Trucker won to reclaim the title... They again met for the Hardcore Title at the Bragging Rights PPV, but Trucker won to retain the belt... Travis and Dylan then focused on the tag team division but were unable to climb high enough in the rankings... In March, Renegade and Lee Money turned heel by attacking Travis and Dylan prior to a match on Raw, which initiated a feud between the teams... Renegade and Travis had a personal grudge, which led to their inclusion in a Hardcore Title Scramble match at WrestleMania, which also featured champ Brett Diamond, Shawn Midnight and rookie H.E.R.O.... Brett scored a late pinfall to win the match and retain the belt Year 3: Began the year still in a tag team with Dylan Dynamite and continued to feud with Renegade and Lee Money... In May, he and Renegade engaged in a best-of-5 series to determine the true "toughest man on Raw"... Despite holding a 2-1 lead at one point, Renegade came back to win the final two matches including a victory at the Extreme Rules PPV to win the series... In June, he participated in the King of the Ring Tournament but lost to rookie Big Juan Santos in the quarterfinals... Later in the month, frustrated due to a recent lack of success, Travis turned heel and attacked Dylan following a tag team match on an episode of Superstars... The attack sparked an ongoing feud between the former partners, but Travis defeated Dylan multiple times to end it... In November, Roarke was named captain of Team Raw for a Survivor Series 6-man tag match... Anarchy earned a spot on the team and Shawn Midnight was named to the team just days before the PPV... At Survivor Series, Shawn abandoned the team mid-match and allowed Team Smackdown to pick up an easy sweep victory... A few weeks later, Roarke demanded a match against Shawn looking for payback but Midnight won... At the Royal Rumble PPV, Travis entered at #28 but was eliminated by Lee Money late in the bout... In March, Travis began a feud with rookie Thunder over the "Assassin" beating him and busting him open in a 4-way elimination victory on Superstars... The rivals had two matches on Superstars, one ending in a double-countout draw and the other a resounding win for Thunder in a Tables match where the action never even entered the ring... Meanwhile, Travis also qualified for the Money in the Bank Ladder match with a win over Anarchy... At WrestleMania, he looked strong in the chaotic bout but was unable to capture the briefcase |
