Year 2
April
After a very memorable WrestleMania, the next year of Smackdown began with lots of new changes to the roster. In the first week of April, drafts were held for both Raw and Smackdown and the blue brand saw several big departures replaced by exciting arrivals! Leaving the blue brand was former World Heavyweight champ Carson Pain, Travis Roarke, the Alpha & Omega duo, Michelle McCool and the Bella Twins. Taking their roster spots would be former WWE champ Antonio Jordan, the recently-formed team of Hitman Jack & Vincent Serum, Eve Torres and Natalya! Fans were interested to see which feuds would form due to the roster turnover.
World Heavyweight champ Eric Executioner was coming off a big main-event win at WrestleMania, capturing his 2nd title reign after a 3-month chase. With rival Carson Pain heading to Raw, there was a void to be filled as the #1 contender. The person to step up would be... Ace! The "Ultimate Superstar" failed in his bid to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, but still felt confident after a recent run as Intercontinental champ. Ace had been an indirect ally of Eric's in the past, but had the fans' support in his quest to end Eric's reign. The "Narcissist" kept his cool but knew that Ace would be a big challenge for his first title defense!
A great Cage match at WrestleMania settled the Intercontinental Title feud between champ Gravedigger and Joseph T. Lutte, and the "Graveyard Monster" managed to retain the belt. Entering the new year, the "Fantastic Frenchman" continued to fight with 'Digger and displayed very selfish behavior. As a result of his actions, Joseph's Foreign Power stablemates decided that they had had enough! Zach Wesley & Billy Carter refused to assist Joseph since he didn't reciprocate the help for them, and they attacked Lutte to end the alliance! Joseph was angry that he would have to face 'Digger alone, but he used that anger as fuel to prep himself for another challenge. Gravedigger was ready to defend again, but had to watch out for all of Joseph's underhanded tricks!
Parker & Coop's Tag Team Title reign was ruined by some dirty tactics at WrestleMania, and the Bullet Boyz reclaimed the belts. The Olympic duo were furious and demanded a rematch, but wanted to give themselves some protection from the Craig & Tony's penchant for illegal actions. So, instead of planning for a normal match, the former Olympians requested... a No DQ match! Parker & Coop were ready to get "ugly" to win back the titles, and the Bullet Boyz happily obliged the request!
The 2 Cool 2 Xtreme team of ECW champ Krizz Torture & Rusty had been growing apart over the past few months. They both had recent success as a singles competitor, with Krizz reigning as ECW champ and Rusty only losing his Cruiserweight Title a few days before WrestleMania. But with their tag team prowess waning, Rusty decided to split with his long-time pal. Krizz at first seemed fine with it, but the reality hit him later in the month and it did not help at all. The "2 Cool" superstar started to feel the sense of being alone, and it played a major role in his new feud against Vincent Serum. On the final episode of Smackdown this month, Krizz lost his ECW Title to Serum! Krizz was distraught as he realized what had happened, and the "Vicious Vampire" was ecstatic to win his first singles title in WWE!

With spring in full swing, the Smackdown brand had lots of excitement building! World Heavyweight champ Eric Executioner was successful in his title defense against Ace at last month's PPV, and a new #1 contender needed to be established. GM Teddy Long scheduled a 6-man battle royal on the first Smackdown of the month to determine a new opponent for the "Narcissist", and in a surprise finish... Krizz Torture emerged as the victor! The former ECW champ shocked even himself by outlasting 5 other top challengers, and gave himself his first 1-on-1 World Title opportunity! The fans got behind Krizz quickly, especially since he and former tag partner Rusty had recently had an amicable dissolution. The "2 Cool" superstar proved himself to be a worthy challenger throughout the month, and Eric seemed legitimately concerned that he could lose his title at Extreme Rules!
Another feud developed from the #1 contender battle royal as well. Mid-match, Antonio Jordan eliminated Ace and infuriated the "Ultimate Superstar". Ace was livid that the new Smackdown member ruined his chance to get another World Title chance, and a rivalry quickly grew! "America's Favorite" responded strongly to Ace's threats, and fans were itching to see them face off. Another feud over on Raw was brewing between DMK, Carson Pain and the Badass Coalition. GMs Teddy Long and Stephanie McMahon agreed to combine their non-title feuds into one 6-man tag match for the next PPV! Antonio would team up with his former ally DMK and new Raw member Carson against the Badass Coalition team of Big Mutha Trucker and Tank Blazer, who would battle alongside Smackdown's Ace! There seemed to be big stakes on the line in this big match, and fans were excited to see the interpromotional battle.
Joseph T. Lutte had been feuding with Gravedigger over the Intercontinental Title for months, and he finally captured the belt last month by using an illegal pin! The "Graveyard Monster" was very upset over losing to the "Fantastic Frenchman" like that, so he demanded his rematch for the next PPV to show everyone that Lutte was a fluke!
The final development came as the result of Women's champ Kelly Kelly's action back at the Backlash PPV. Kelly Kelly had been attached to Carson Pain for a while, and the "Golden Couple" reigned over Smackdown. But "The Original" was drafted to Raw at the beginning of the month, so naturally their relationship became strained. Carson earned a WWE Title shot on Raw, while Kelly Kelly seemed lost on Smackdown without her male companion. After Carson lost the match at the PPV, Kelly Kelly came down to the ring to seemingly console him... but instead, she kicked him right in the crotch! The nasty low blow officially proved that the Women's champ had turned on the fans and ended her relationship with Carson, and she had a new mean streak. She continued to dominate the Women's division, but this time as a true heel!

June
The summer began and on Smackdown, Eric Executioner still reigned as World Heavyweight champ after beating Krizz Torture at last month's PPV. The "Narcissist" continued to look impressive, but a former rival came back for another title shot... Ace! The "Ultimate Superstar" wanted to face off against Eric again, vowing to prove his loss at Backlash to be a fluke. He promised to end Eric's reign, while the overconfident champ stood his ground as the next PPV approached.
Speaking of Krizz, he had developed a serious bout of low self-esteem due to the events of the past 2 months. He broke up with long-time tag partner Rusty and lost his ECW Title in April, and then his bid to win the World Title fell short at Extreme Rules. Another Smackdown member looking for support was Antonio Jordan, who was still finding his footing after being drafted over in April. The two fan favorites found a lot of common ground between them, and decided to join forces as the new American Cool team! The combo of Antonio & Krizz ran roughshod over the tag team division, soaring up the rankings in a matter of weeks. The current champs, the Bullet Boyz, had arguably been the best tag team over the past year but quickly realized that this new super team was a legitimate threat! The fans were very excited to see the Tag Team Title match between them at the upcoming PPV!
Intercontinental champ Joseph T. Lutte finally vanquished Gravedigger in a title defense last month, and the "Fantastic Frenchman" was looking for his next challenge. His arrogance angered the fans, and everyone was hoping someone would step up and humble him. Rusty shared the fans' disgust and decided to issue a challenge for Joseph's title! But the cocky European didn't view the Chicago native as a true challenger, blistering him in a memorable promo citing Rusty's "lack of credibility". Lutte had to respond to Rusty's challenge, and came up with a alternative: Rusty against Parker & Coop in a Handicap match! If the "2 Xtreme" superfan was able to win the match, he would be granted a title shot. Joseph thought this was a great way to ruin Rusty's plans... that is, until Rusty won the match! Pushed into a corner, the wealthy French grappler had no choice but to follow through and give Rusty a title match!
The ECW Title scene was being controlled by champ Vincent Serum, but the "Vicious Vampire" would get a new challenger from a 6-man battle royal. The multi-man #1 contender's match produced Zach Wesley as the winner! Fans were very excited to see the two super-heavyweights face off for the ECW Title. On the final Smackdown of the month, Serum and the "Mohawked Maniac" faced off in a No DQ match for the belt. Zach used a pre-match sneak attack and smashed Serum through a table near the end of the match to pin the champ and claim the ECW Title!
