Dynamite was a highly-regarded athlete as a teenager, making several national rankings in baseball and lacrosse, but a torn ACL ruined his dreams of playing either at the professional level. With his hopes shattered, Dylan turned to the military in hopes of finding a new purpose. After serving in the army for 5 years including a short stint overseas in Iraq, Dylan returned to the states looking for a new challenge. A former superior of his in the army, Tank Blazer, had found success in pro wrestling and offered to train Dylan. Dynamite accepted and very quickly learned the ropes. Together, Tank and Dynamite formed a solid tag team thriving on Tank's brute strength and Dylan's speed and agility. Their military background and patriotic promos easily led them to become fan favorites throughout the U.S. independent scene. When WWE came calling, Tank and Dylan took on their new challenge with excitement. Despite early success, Tank and Dylan couldn't climb up the tag rankings. With their hopes beginning to fade, they turned their intentions evil and joined a powerful stable that included DMK and Shawn Midnight. When DMK began to break free of the stable and take on the stable's evil leader, Tank and Dylan stayed loyal through the end. When the leader was vanquished and the stable dissolved, Tank and Dylan refused to join DMK and Midnight's new team and remained heel. Dylan and Tank re-embraced their military background but scorned the fans due to their "betrayals". Dynamite wanted to prove that he could finally make an impact in the WWE, but he was going to do it without the support of the rabid fan base.
