April through June
Year 1
April
The Smackdown brand went through some exhaustive changes, similar to Raw, and featured almost an entirely young and new roster following a great WrestleMania. Many of the veteran grapplers have moved on and the exciting interest generated from this new crop of wrestlers has continued to bring fans in. Here is a brief overview of the Smackdown roster as the new year began:
And of course, there's got to be some strong Smackdown Divas! Here's who is part of the blue brand:
The first month of the new year begin in shocking fashion, as the Bullet Boyz upset World Heavyweight champ Ace and Brett Diamond in a tag team main event on the first episode. This match would kick off a lengthy, vicious feud between the two rival teams. After hard-fought matches, nasty comments and threats made and numerous physical encounters, the teams agree to a rematch at the Backlash PPV!
Three members of the brand would represent at the Backlash PPV as well, in a interpromotional 6-man battle royal! Qualifying matches were held throughout the month to earn spots in the match. Mack Wheeler, Carson Pain and Intercontinental champ Krizz Torture each scored qualifying victories, which sent them into the battle with momentum on their side!
The first month did witness a lot of jostling for position, as the beginning of this new era opened up a lot of chances to move up the rankings.
- Current World Heavyweight champ Ace. The "Ultimate Superstar" captured his 1st title reign at WrestleMania and is one of the most popular characters in the WWE.
- Brett Diamond. The "Professional" is Ace's closest ally and tag team partner.
- The 2 Cool 2 Xtreme team, featuring current Intercontinental champ Krizz Torture and Rusty. The background stories for both of these men, their natural charisma and great team chemistry made them instant fan favorites.
- "The Original" Carson Pain. This very charismatic superstar is quickly becoming more and more popular.
- Eric Executioner. The self-proclaimed narcissist believes that not only does he look like the ideal superstar, but he's got the strength and talent to back it up.
- Gravedigger. The dark, brooding masked giant who has a very odd upbringing is one of the most interesting characters on the blue brand.
- Travis Roarke. The "Assassin" has a well-known fighting background and doesn't back down from a challenge.
- Mack Wheeler. The "Human Semi" is a former Texas Longhorn and a brutal, vicious fighter.
- The Bullet Boyz. Craig Bullet is the high-flying leader of this foster brother tag team, while Tony Bullet is the hard-nosed, prideful Mexican side of this duo.
- The former Olympians Parker & Coop. Tommy Parker and Joey Cooper were former Olympic teammates and joined WWE together, creating an impressive in-ring duo.
- Zach Wesley. The strange, enigmatic beast known as the "Mohawked Maniac" due to his signature hairstyle and aggressive, unstable demeanor is a danger to any opponent.
- Billy Carter. The "Canadian Bomber" can really move in the ring and causes plenty of trouble with his mouth.
And of course, there's got to be some strong Smackdown Divas! Here's who is part of the blue brand:
- Current Women's champ Beth Phoenix. The "Glamazon" is arguably the strongest female on the WWE roster.
- Michelle McCool. The tough Diva begins the year as the #1 contender.
- Kelly Kelly. The beautiful blonde has shown improvement in the ring.

May
The month of May witnessed some interesting developments as the new era of Smackdown roared on. Wrestlers of all shapes, sizes and talents continued to fight for high rankings spots, and even new alliances were formed as the tag team division heated up.
The biggest ranking move came in the form of a new #1 contender for the Intercontinental Title. Travis Roarke was the victor in a hard-fought #1 contender's match against Craig Bullet, putting him in position to challenge Krizz Torture at the Extreme Rules PPV. After Roarke's victory, he targeted the "2 Cool" superstar directly and a feud grew. Krizz seemed very confident in his chances to retain, but the fighting ability of the "Assassin" started to raise some doubts!
The other title match planned for the Extreme Rules PPV came about as a result of a heated, personal feud between the current Women's champ Beth Phoenix and #1 contender Michelle McCool. The "Glamazon" felt that she was the strongest Diva on the blue brand, but Michelle argued that Beth's "beliefs" weren't a strength. Beth didn't appreciate her deep, emotional opinions questioned, which played perfectly into Michelle's quest to earn a title match. After several nasty encounters throughout the month, both women agreed to a title match!
Ace & Brett Diamond were initially pleased with their Backlash PPV victory over the Bullet Boyz, but it slowly began to appear that some animosity was forming between them. Ace was the reigning World Heavyweight champ, and none of the younger challengers had established themselves as a true threat yet. Brett warned his ally about his increasing complacency, but Ace took offense to his partner's advice. In a shocking moment near the end of the month, Ace & Brett lost a tag team match to Gravedigger and Zach Wesley. After the match, they argued intensely before Ace walked out on his partner and left fans wondering if they were about to reach a breaking point.
Speaking of tag teams, 2 new partnerships formed during the month and muddied up the tag team picture. First, Eric Executioner and Mack Wheeler each recognized their individual need for at least one ally. So... they decided to team up themselves! The narcissist and the "Human Semi" found some common ground and vowed to have each other's back as they both tried to make a name for themselves. The other tag team that was formed came about in the oddest of ways, but started creating some major buzz. Parker & Coop were feuding with Zach Wesley and challenged the "Mohawked Maniac" to a tag team match, which forced Zach to find a partner. Zach enlisted the help of Gravedigger, although the "Graveyard Monster" was reluctant. Despite the Olympians advantage in chemistry, teamwork and experience... Zach & 'Digger pulled off a shocking upset! The two strange superheavyweights clearly just winged it and overpowered their opponents with their massive strength advantage. As a result, they decided to remain as a team but the obvious unstable nature of their relationship made for some interesting moments!

June
June began following an intense Extreme Rules PPV, where a new Intercontinental Champion emerged! Travis Roarke upset Krizz Torture to win his 1st Intercontinental Title, and the "Assassin" had a lot of confidence as he strutted around the blue brand. Unfortunately for him, a new challenger quickly rose up to earn a title shot... Carson Pain! "The Original" strung together a hot streak, including a win over ex-champ Krizz Torture, to become the new #1 contender for the Intercontinental Title! Travis talked a lot of trash, but Carson refused to back down. A title match was made for The Bash PPV, and everyone was curious to see if the title would change hands again!
In other big news, World Heavyweight champ Ace had been having some issues with tag partner Brett Diamond and it seemed like a blowup was inevitable. As it turned out... the rumors were true! During a tag team match early in the month, the "Ultimate Superstar" attacked his partner and abandoned him. Ace turned heel and began to show more anger and aggression. Brett retaliated and a very personal feud developed between them!
The Ace & Brett feud didn't stay alone though, as another heated rivalry somehow got mixed in. In the tag team division, Parker & Coop continued to feud with the Bullet Boyz as the teams tried to one-up each other. An interaction with Ace & Brett caused the rivalries to become mixed, with Ace siding with the bad-guy Bullet Boyz and Brett joining the former Olympians. As a result, a 6-man tag match was agreed to for The Bash PPV!
The other major development on Smackdown came in the form of new Tag Team #1 contenders. Gravedigger & Zach Wesley were still a very unlikely tag team, and the tension between the strange, aggressive monsters was so evident. But despite the chances of implosion always high, they managed to string together enough victories to give themselves a Tag Team Title match! With the unpredictability and their massive strength, fans started to wonder openly if they would be able to beat Hell United and actually become champions. A match was made for The Bash PPV, so the Tag Team Titles could be switching over to the blue brand!
