Surviving mostly on the streets with an absent father and a drug-addicted mother, Lee found solace in the love and care of his grandmother. Her constant watch and high moral fiber kept Lee out of trouble and successful in school. He discovered an interest in entrepreneurship and BAM!... his need for "Cash" was born. Using some well-earned resources, Lee and a close friend decided to invest and participate in a local wrestling federation. Lee was definitely an amateur in the squared circle, but a large number of matches grew his experience and he became the federation's biggest draw, which in turn grew his personal wealth. Lee's success had an opposite effect on his financial partner, who began to feel jealousy and act irresponsibly. In the ring, his friend shocked Lee and their fans with an unexpected heel turn while out of the ring was spending money wildly without care. While Lee was concentrating on maintaining the upper hand on his friend in the ring, his well-earned personal wealth was slowly dwindling without his knowledge. On a fateful night, Lee was preparing for a title defense but got word from another performer that his friend had sold the federation and left the country with all of their remaining funds. Lee was left betrayed and broke... but got saved when the WWE came calling. The events in Richmond gave Lee the motivation to earn his keep the best way possible: on his own. Career Overview Year 1: Made his debut in October... Soon after his debut, he joined Shawn Midnight and Brett Diamond in the P.I.M.P.S. (Players in Most Perfect Stature) group... In January, he entered at entry #30 in the 30-man Royal Rumble match but failed to win... Had success quickly in his career which led to his first Cruiserweight Title match in March, in which he upset Rusty to win the belt... He retained against Rusty later in the month... Brett Diamond left P.I.M.P.S. in March, but Shawn and Lee remained tight friends and kept the group name alive Year 2: Began the year as Cruiserweight champ... In May, the Japanese luchador Alpha earned a title shot and beat Lee on an episode of Raw... After failing to recapture the title, he suffered through some more bad luck as Shawn turned heel and betrayed him, officially ending the P.I.M.P.S. team... At the end of the Summerslam PPV, Lee saved Renegade from a post-match attack from WWE champ DMK and formed a team with the party animal on the following Raw... He helped Renegade in his feud against DMK, which pushed him back up the rankings... In November, he earned a Cruiserweight Title shot against then-champ Tommy Parker, but the Olympian walked out mid-math and took a countout loss... Lee was granted a rematch on Superstars and upset Tommy to win his 2nd Cruiserweight Title... In December, an attack by DMK on him sparked a renewal of the feud between his partner Renegade and the WWE champ... In January, he again competed in the 30-man Royal Rumble match... At the Elimination Chamber PPV, he defended the Cruiserweight Title in a 6-man battle royal and retained after a length match... In March, he and Renegade turned heel and began a feud with Travis Roarke and Dylan Dynamite... Lee was able to retain his title again against Dylan on an episode of Raw Year 3: Began the year again as Cruiserweight champ... The feud against Travis and Dylan continued briefly and concluded when Renegade defeated Travis in a best-of-5 series culminating at the Extreme Rules PPV... He competed in the King of the Ring Tournament but lost in the quarterfinals to Mack Wheeler... He then proceeded to assist Renegade in wins over Big Juan Santos and Mack en route to the King of the Ring PPV final, but Renegade lost to Eric Executioner... His interference in Renegade's matches drew the ire of Raw GM Stephanie McMahon, who scheduled a 5-man Scramble match for his Cruiserweight Title... Lee faced each challenger one-on-one throughout July but lost 3 out of 4 non-title matches... At the Night of Champions PPV, Lee entered the Scramble match last and was the current "champion" late in the match but a last-second pinfall by Rusty led to the end of Lee's 266-day title reign... In August he feuded with Rusty in hopes of reclaiming his title, and they agreed to a Ladder match... At the Summerslam PPV, Lee fought hard but failed to win back the title... In September he struggled through a losing streak and was abandoned by partner Renegade, which seemed to cause a rift between them... In October, Renegade tried to use him to prevent Brett Diamond from challenging for the U.S. Title, but the scheme didn't work... Renegade lost the U.S. Title at Judgment Day, and the night after on Raw, he attacked Lee to end their partnership... Lee lost a match against his former friend the next week, and earned a new ally in Brett Diamond... "Cash" was absent for a few weeks, but returned in late December to challenge for Rusty's Cruiserweight Title but lost on Superstars... At the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV, Renegade beat Brett to re-capture the U.S. Title and attempted to attack him with a chair after the match... Lee raced down to the ring to save Brett, in a scene reminiscent of when he saved Renegade from a post-match beatdown by DMK over a year earlier... Lee continued to be an ally to Brett in his feud with Renegade... At the Royal Rumble PPV, Lee entered the 30-man match at #25 and was impressive, but was eliminated near the end by eventual-winner DMK... In February, Renegade attacked Brett Diamond backstage on an episode of Raw and Lee took offense to that act, responding with his own assault the following week and demanding to face the "Party Animal" in a steel cage match... "Cash" won the cage match on Raw and then challenged his former ally to a U.S. Title match at Elimination Chamber... At the PPV, Lee showed incredible resiliency and won the match to earn his first United States Title reign... In March, the rivalry continued as Lee tried to make Renegade see the error of his ways... Days before WrestleMania, "Cash" again defeated Renegade to retain the U.S. Title |
