Growing up in Pittsburgh, he was always the class clown and playful jokester. He loved climbing trees and hanging off roofs, showing a natural athletic ability. After graduation from high school, he began stand-up comedy and was an immediate hit. He went on tour throughout the East Coast, earning a solid following. But his success was short-lived as he struggled to find new material. After a show in Tampa had only 20 people in attendance, Jester decided to give up and find a new career. It was tough considering most of his skills involved using microphone, but he definitely couldn't sing. On his last penny, he tried to cheer himself up by attending a local wrestling event with some friends. Jester knew he had some athletic skills and could surely speak well on a mic, so the wrestling event opened a new door. He raised just enough money to join a training camp and very quickly developed solid in-ring skills. Since he was already skilled on the mic, he delivered very good and entertaining promos in which he was able to apply his comedy to the wrestling world. He signed to a local Pennsylvania independent league and enjoyed great success, winning the mid-card title 3 times and the tag titles twice. Once the WWE learned of his comedic promos and his impressive moves, they offered him a contract. Finally, Jester was back on top of the entertainment world and he has vowed to never leave it again.
