Youngblood was known as a goon throughout the NHL's minor league system, bouncing from team-to-team simply as an enforcer who could barely stay out of the penalty box. After 15 years of struggling in the minors with no hope of reaching the big time, Youngblood decided to hang up his skates and find a new career. A local wrestling show caught his eye, and he thought that with his toughness he could easily make it. Despite starting in his mid-30's, Youngblood climbed up the ranks and got invited to a WWE tryout. His character and ability wowed WWE officials, and they offered him a contract soon after. Youngblood was shocked to discover that after struggling so long in the sport he loved, that another sport gave him a better opportunity. His down-on-his-luck hockey flameout character caught on with fans early, who could relate to his "average joe" demeanor.
