"The Professional" grew up in the harsh neighborhoods of Atlanta, surviving with street smarts and the right connections. Diamond got caught up in gang activity and was suspended from school multiple times due to fighting, disrespect and more. At the age of 16, Diamond dropped out and committed himself to learning the drug trade in order to survive. The turning point for Diamond happened after a drug bust gone wrong, where his partner was shot and Diamond was arrested. A surprising moment of honesty saved Diamond from severe punishment, and he only served a short term in a juvenile detention center. During his time, Diamond encountered several inmates who watched professional wrestling religiously. Diamond got swept up in the drama and the athleticism, and decided to begin training after his time was served. Diamond kept his promise and his natural ring abilities showed through early, earning his first independent contract after only 6 months of training. During Diamond's first year on the independent circuit, he met a strong competitor who went by Ace and the two became strong friends. Diamond and Ace formed a tag team, and went on to capture 3 independent tag team titles. Their success as a tag team and their natural charisma on the mic caught the eye of WWE officials, who signed the tag team to a contract. Diamond truly proves that life on the streets can be overcome.
